About me
Youp van 't Hek once said:
“I don't work, I play.”
But yes, I say:
“I don't work, I draw.”
Nice and straightforward.
I am an image maker and that is exactly what I do. No fuss, just roll up your sleeves and go. Pencil on paper, stylus on tablet, or pixels on screen – it is all about creation. My images should not only be visually correct, they should feel, touch, evoke something. That is the art.
But when I'm not drawing, I don't sit still. Outside?!
That's where you'll find me. On the mountain bike through the woods, pushing myself to the limit in the crossfit box, or somewhere between the mountains, traveling with my family.
And if I'm lucky, I'll be standing up to my knees in the snow with a snowboard under my feet.
That is charging. That is energy.
Inspiration is everywhere. I get my inspiration from everywhere: from the street, from people, from architecture, from traveling, from graffiti on an abandoned wall, or just from the trash on the sidewalk. Everything is input. Everything can become an idea.
I work really hard, but never forget to enjoy life outside of work. Because yes, work is important,
but it's not just about that.
The best ideas come when you let go, when you experience something new, when your eyes stay open to what is happening.
And if I go back to work?
Then I come back with new energy. No bullshit, just do it. No words but deeds. Every project a fresh look, every image a new challenge. Tight, powerful, and always with a twist that grabs you.
Because that is what images should do:
it has to feel.
